Market-leading Enterprise Software Solution Simplifies Physical Identity and Access Management Within and Between Government Agencies

San Jose, Calif., March 24, 2010 – Quantum Secure, Inc. (www.quantumsecure.com), the exclusive provider of enterprise software to manage and streamline security identities, compliance and events across disparate physical security systems, announced today that it has received the 2010 Security Products’ GovSec award, recognizing outstanding products being exhibited at the GovSec tradeshow held this week in Washington DC.

The SAFE for Government solution, designed using NIST SP800.116 best practices and recommendations, leverages existing physical and IT infrastructures and automates key internal processes, resulting in reduced operational costs and risk.

By providing a policy-based approach to managing and enrolling PIV cardholders into diverse PACS, the SAFE for Government solution enables the flexible enrollment, validation and processing of individuals gaining temporary or long-term access to a given facility, along with a policy-based approach to guard against fraud and foster real-time audit and compliance.

Additionally, the SAFE for Government software suite eliminates the need for the costly and time-consuming “rip and replace” of an existing PACS to achieve compliance to Federal Information Processing Standard 201 interoperability regulations.

“Government agencies represent a challenging arena for physical identity and access management,” said Ajay Jain, Quantum Secure president and CEO. “With a mixture of PIV, CAC, TWIC and non-PIV cards, a disjointed PACS infrastructure and a complex network of facilities, managing identities and related physical access is a daunting task, driving a high manual cost of operations and increased levels of risk. The SAFE for Government solution simplifies these issues, automating the provisioning of identities into disparate PACS and better-managing cardholders, visitors and contractors, as well as their related-area access.”

The SAFE for Government solution allows government agencies to gain control and achieve the agility and security – from PIV to PACS and beyond – of a centralized means to manage the lifecycle of identities and access management, resulting in reduced operational costs, compliance and the elimination of risk associated with physical access control.

With the SAFE for Government solution, government agencies can:

  • Quickly authenticate PIV cards across multiple PACS in real time, with a PKI certificate check if needed
  • Automate the PACS credentialing process, providing role-based physical access privilege management based upon PIV card data
  • Manage and provision visitors carrying a variety of PIV cards from the same agency (or across multiple agencies)
  • Manage non-PIV cardholders and their related-area access
  • Seamlessly integrate with identity management and other IT systems

With the SAFE for Government solution, agencies can improve interoperability between agencies and other third parties; eliminate the manual redundancies related to physical identity and access management and increase in protection of personally identifiable information (PII) across their security infrastructure.

“We’re very pleased that so many companies took an interest in showcasing their products at GovSec,” said Ralph Jensen, Editor-in-Chief of Security Products. “We’re also honored to announce the winners that will ultimately provide an additional step toward a more secure world.”
